The European Health Insurance Card

Through the card insured person exercised the right of health care services of a foreign insured persons from countries subject to EU legislation. Exceptions are Austrian citizens who have a national card. For a European certificate is requested to contact the regional unit Health Insurance Company (ZZZS, Dep. of International Health Insurance, Dep. of Compulsory Health Insurance).

The certificate, which temporarily replaces the European card is a paper-based claim a foreign person entitled to health care services of a foreign insured persons from countries subject to EU legislation. In case of any deficiencies or inaccuracies foreign insured person claimed only emergency medical services, which should pay for itself, until a credible document is available. In case of doubt, contact the appropriate regional unit Health Insurance Company.

Exercise of the rights to health services with a European card or certificate

Foreign insured persons use health services due to current medical problems, the type of medical services depends on the expected length of stay in Slovenia. In this way, a person smoothly completed the planned stay in Slovenia. Foreign insured subject must follow the Rules of National Compulsory Health Insurance Company (including waiting periods, payment for health services, which are not fully guaranteed by compulsory health insurance). The doctor decides on the course of the urgency and type of treatment in Slovenia according to length of stay.
